ABOUT THE CANINE OUTPOST

Where knowledge meets compassion, and every breed is respected

At The Canine Outpost, we believe dogs deserve more than just a place to stay...
they deserve a place where they are truly understood.

Formerly known as K9's on the Move, our business is entering an exciting new chapter with a name that better reflects who we are: a trusted, country-style outpost where dogs are cared for with structure, knowledge, and heart.

Owner Susan Sinford brings a rare depth of experience to every dog in her care. With a formal background in canine training and behavior, along with years of hands-on work as a veterinary technician, Susan understands that every dog is different — not just in personality, but in breed psychology, instincts, and emotional needs.

Whether a dog is confident, anxious, energetic, or shy, Susan and her team know how to create the right environment for them to feel safe and supported.

OUR FACULTY

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Play with Purpose. Stay with Care.

At K9s on the Move | The Canine Outpost, everything we do is guided by one belief: Dogs do best when care is intentional, calm, and structured.

Play with Purpose

Purposeful play means activities chosen for each dog's temperament, focusing on mental enrichment and building confidence.

  • Mental enrichment, not just physical exhaustion
  • Building confidence, impulse control, and positive social skills
  • Right activity, right time, right dog

We don't believe in “all dogs, all day, all together.”

We believe in the right activity, at the right time, for the right dog.

Stay with Care

Care means predictable routines, comfortable rest spaces, thoughtful handling, and close observation.

  • Predictable routines for security
  • Comfortable, personalized rest spaces
  • Thoughtful, respectful handling
  • Close behavioral observation

Whether a dog is here for daycare or boarding, our goal is for them to feel secure, supported, and understood.

Fear-Free Methods

We use Fear Free, positive reinforcement-based techniques to reduce anxiety and support trust.

  • Reduce anxiety and stress
  • Support trust and confidence
  • Positive associations with routines
  • Especially important for puppies & seniors

Fear Free care creates positive associations with care, handling, and routines.

“My Malinois loves coming here and we have had great experiences here for 4 years now. When we arrive he can’t wait to get back to the kennel area and he loves everyone there. They take excellent care of him and I can tell he is well loved. I have never had a negative experience and would never hesitate to keep using K9s on the Move.”
